The experience:
Aroma: Full bodied, with a light hint of ginger
Taste: Earthy, herbal, slightly spicy.
Health benefits: All of the herbs included in this blend have strong immunity-enhancing and cough-relieving properties. Mullein acts both as an expectorant, to promote the discharge of mucus, and a demulcent, to soothe and protect mucous membranes. Historically, mullein has been used as a remedy for the respiratory tract, particularly in cases of irritating coughs with bronchial congestion. Elecampane is usually used for lung diseases including asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough. It is also used to prevent coughing, and as an expectorant to help loosen phlegm, so it can be coughed up more easily. Marshmallow root loosens up the phlegm and helps to remove it, making the cough less painful. A small study from 2005 found that marshmallow root was effective in relieving coughs due to colds, bronchitis, or respiratory tract diseases with formation of mucus. Ginger soothes dry or asthmatic coughs, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Wild cherry bark is used for colds, whooping cough, bronchitis and other lung problems. Lemon balm has anti-viral and calming properties.
